Washington, DC – March 9, 2015 – The U.S. Department of Education announced that it awarded Longevity Consulting a task order contract to provide program management and peer review support to the Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII). The one-year task order, awarded under OII’s Investing in Innovation Fund (i3), represents Longevity’s success in continuing to provide high quality grants management services for the Department of Education.
The i3 Fund, established under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provides competitive grants to local educational agencies and nonprofit organizations with a record of improving student achievement. These grants allow educational agencies to work in partnership with the private sector and the philanthropic community to identify and document best practices demonstrating the greatest impact on improving student achievement, as well as teacher and school leader effectiveness.
Longevity President and Chief Executive Officer Bobby Long said, “This continuation of our work with the U.S. Department of Education demonstrates the value of our deep understanding of OII’s mission to improve student achievement, decrease dropout rates and close achievement gaps.”
Chief Operations Officer Eric Thompson said, “Longevity is proud to play a part in OII’s mission to identify and develop solutions to education’s most persistent challenges. We will continue to support the Department and OII in identifying these solutions.”
The Office of Innovation and Improvement administers more than 25 discretionary grant programs including charter school programs and teacher quality programs. In addition, OII also serves as the Department’s liaison to the nonpublic education and military communities.
