Washington, DC – September 22, 2015 – This past summer, Longevity Consulting launched the Longevity Consulting Summer Internship Program. The program provides paid positions for enterprising college students who are interested in learning more about business and the IT industry. This year, Longevity employed six interns to fill various roles in support of two of our government contracts.
Three of our interns provided logistical support for the Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) Shelter in Place (SIP) kit replenishment project. The interns removed expired food bars, water packets and batteries from SIP kits located in approximately 230 offices at the Pentagon and replaced the expired items with over 6,160 new food bars, 33,960 individual water pouches and 1,170 D cell batteries. They were also tasked with coordinating with clients to schedule delivery appointments, determining quantities of supplies needed for weekly deliveries and preparing the supplies in advance, and collecting and entering inventory data into a web-based system.
Additionally, Longevity hired two interns to support the Department of Education, Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII) project to provide logistical and administrative support for peer reviews of OII programs. The purpose of these peer reviews is to ensure a competitive and objective evaluation is performed by well-qualified reviewers who are chosen for their experience and ability to assess a proposed project’s quality. These reviews are the foundation for higher-level funding decisions and help ensure that awards are made on a fair and impartial basis. Longevity’s interns assisted with various analytical and administrative tasks in support of the project. They were trained on the peer review process and were ultimately given responsibility to complete critical client deliverables.
